1. The Sustainable Building Sourcebook
One-stop-shopping site for information, directories, articles, newsgroups, and links about environmentally-conscious design and building. The Sourcebook is currently being revised and the website is being updated accordingly. Get the latest in eco-design information. Lots of new topics and addtional practical information. Kudos to the City of Austin's Green Builder Program for their local accomplishments and for making their reservoir of knowledge available online!
2. Oikos
The mother of sustainable design and development information sites. Online search engine locates everything you always wanted to know about building materials (in the ultimate green products database, the REDI guide-- updated October 31, 1997), design and construction techniques, general information (including the GreenClips archive), booklists, videos, software, mailing lists... As of the beginning of November the product gallery has several new products highlighted.
3. Environmental Building News
Well-maintained online version of premier journal on environmental building. Read articles, search back issues and peruse annotated list of links. Interesting information and perspectives on current hot topics (several new topics added as of November 1997) in discussion groups--but generally not for the layperson.
4. Eco Design
Basic information on all subjects related to ecological and sustainable design, architecture and planning, including resource lists, FAQs, building products and practitioners. This recently (November 1997) re-launched site has a geographic focus in British Columbia, Canada.
5. Real Goods
Graphically fun and easy-to-understand information for every shade of green (from novice to professionally ecologically correct). View pages showing the now completed Solar Living Center in all its glory, sign up for a design /build course and restock your supply of 100% recycled toilet paper.
