1. Federal Railroad Administration
Jump from the home page to the high-speed ground transportation section. This is the best Website for learning the basics. It also has links to foreign railroads and updates on high-speed rail projects around the country.

2. National Transportation Library
A wealth of information on virtually every transportation topic is available through this service of the U.S. Department of Transportation. Be sure to read the report "High Speed Ground Transportation for America." Depending on your modem speed, it may take awhile to download, but it is worth the wait.

3. TGV
Check out what's happening with France's true high-speed rail, the Train a Grande Vitesse, while the United States creeps along. This Website contains everything from technical data to a trainspotters' guide.

4. Amtrak
By 1999, Amtrak plans to run Metroliner trains at 150 mph between Boston and Washington D.C. Follow the progress from here.

5. All Aboard America
This rail enthusiast Website has links to virtually everything that has anything to do with railroads.

Also...Several new sites are coming on line in October, so check back for updates....Check out the U.S. General Accounting Office's Website for trustworthy information about both high-speed rail and Amtrak's financial predicament.
